Work and Play in Las Vegas – Waldorf Astoria

Time To Read
Imagine closing your laptop after a productive day while gazing at the glittering Las Vegas Strip from a quiet oasis above it all… Work and play in Vegas 2025 to kick off the year? Yes, please! For those who have not attended it, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) brings in 100,000+ visitors from all over the world to experience new tech and see what's going on in several industries. While my CES 2025 trip had many highlights (and my other trip articles are to follow), my stay at the Waldorf deserves its own write-up. Plenty of hotels have wowed me, but the whole experience at the Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas was pretty unparalleled. I stayed 2 nights on the last leg of the show, and this hotel provides such a different Vegas experience that it deserves consideration by many travelers. After a busy day at CES, stepping into the quiet Waldorf felt like entering another city altogether.

Quick About - Waldorf Astoria / Las Vegas

To start, the location is pretty in-the-thick-of-it on the Strip. It's located at 3752 S. Las Vegas Boulevard, and it's central enough that rideshares are easy and quick to many places while also being within walking distance to many things as well. It delivers Strip views and access and quick placement to many casinos. There is no casino on-site. Room views include city or full Strip with corner Strip view suites offering 270-degree views. This location has hotel rooms and private residences, so the feel/experience is above a standard hotel in my opinion. The residents have their own entrance but there is still something about staying in a property with people who live there that gives it a nice feel.
  • Las Vegas Strip Night Skyline
Dining and drinks include Peacock Alley, which offers excellent views, inspired cocktails, bites to eat, and an Afternoon Tea tradition, Hard Shake, which offers craft blends and hard shake method cocktails, and the Zen Kitchen, which is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (days/hours vary). There are enough nice places and features with this property that a person could stay at the property as a trip in and of itself. Had it not been for other commitments, I could have easily spent all day and night there and not left. They also offer in-room dining, which I will attest was prompt, delicious, and a classy setup in the room. The eighth-floor pool deck has a great pool and cabana landscape that indulges with great views, waiter service (pool cafe). There is also concierge service, and a house car is available for quick drop-offs and pickups (limited availability and distance).

Accommodations and Amenities

This property has it all in my opinion. Excellent location, wonderful accommodations, comfortable bedding and pillows, daily turndown service, on-site beverage and dining options, classy pool with cabanas, fitness center, and spa. Amenity-wise, it's the little things that are not so little. Such as the Nespresso machines in the room, razor packs with shaving gel included, spa soaps,

The Valet Closet (Seriously, This Thing)

One standout feature is the valet closet—a dedicated compartment with a pass-through door. Laundry and deliveries can be picked up or dropped off without opening the main door. What does that mean? It means that drop-offs and pickups can be made to the room without ever having to open the door! As you can see in the picture above (left image above) next to our doorbell — yes, they have really nice doorbells, the door to the left provides access to a cubby, if you will, and the valet door inside the room (right image above) allows guests access to said cubby. At first, it seemed interesting and a novelty, but it quickly became a favorite feature for requesting items and not having to be totally accessible for them to be dropped off.

Location, Location, Yes

The Waldorf’s central Strip location offers easy access to everything while maintaining a calm, insulated environment. For those familiar with the Vegas Strip, you know the crowds, traffic, loudness, and general busyness can make it a lot to take in, especially if you are on a work stay. I had read comments about the Waldorf being kind of walled off from the strip and took it with a grain of salt, but it is something that is definitely worth considering for many people. The entrance is slightly recessed and behind walls, so it’s easy to walk past without noticing. Once inside, however, the noise and chaos of the Strip fade, creating a quiet, elegant escape. There are residences on the top floors, so I can definitely see why some choose this place. Many things are within walking distance, so there is a benefit for staying at the geographic location of the hotel. It's kind of crazy because one minute you are on the Strip and it's loud, it's busy, it's bright, and then a quick walk behind the stairs and here is this quiet, elegant entrance. For work travelers or those who appreciate peace amid the buzz of Vegas, this feature is invaluable.

Work - Space & Setup

For those new to what TeoStaysâ„¢ is about, it's about aligning with places that allow work to be easier and more enjoyable traveling. TeoStays focuses on properties that support working travelers, with priorities like noise levels, internet performance, workspace accessibility, and comfort. The Waldorf delivers on all counts. Our junior suite offered spectacular views, near-silent rooms, and a well-designed workspace. Taking and making phone calls was not an issue, and it was quieter than most offices. The desk had a spacious work area and was equipped with a desk pad, which I like because my laptop has a tendency to slide. The seating was high quality and comfortable. The layout was accommodating as a workspace while also providing additional seating to talk and carry on a conversation with others (one chair across the desk and an adjacent chaise/sofa). Having our own in-room espresso machine made my work hours oh so pleasurable. The work area allowed nice views and a comfortable setting. The late afternoon/early evening turndown service also brought with it a refresh on Nespresso pods and a hauling off of used cups. Slipping out for a bit and returning to a full reset of the mini barista station was pretty wonderful.

Fitness & Well-Being

If exercise and working out is your thing, the Waldorf does not disappoint. From the fresh lemon water and towels to the nice equipment, the fitness center rivals many standalone gyms. My travel and business partner is way more of a fitness and strength training person than myself, and he was genuinely impressed with the gym and would put it up against other gyms (not just hotel gyms). The workout spaces were clean, the equipment, which includes Technogym cardio and strength training equipment, was nicely maintained, and there are some great views to be had. Fitness classes and yoga classes are also available. It's nice.

Play - After Hours

Our trip happened to coincide with renovations going on to their 23rd floor bar, so we were in a temporary setup. Prior to our trip, when I found out we were not going to be able to experience the regular lounge on this floor, I was disappointed. Honestly, I considered not staying there and called and emailed the hotel and asked them what was up with the temporary setup. They were upfront about it and said it may not be up to what the regular bar provided but said it was nice. I thought, OK, let's keep the reservation and see what we get. I am so glad we did because the accommodations and views were outstanding, and it made for a nice way to close out the evening. The Peacock Alley and Hard Shake are now open, and they look to be exquisite.

Shopping, Dining, and Sightseeing - Within Walking Distance

There are several things to do close by. A skybridge leads directly to The Shops at Crystals, featuring over 50 luxury brands including Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Hermès, Chanel, and Burberry. It's a nice place to stroll and take in the luxury Vegas experience. T-Mobile Arena, home to major concerts and Golden Knights hockey, is also nearby. The iconic Bellagio Fountains are about a 10-minute walk (depending on your speed) and always worth a visit. It's a free show with over 1,000 water jets and over 4,000 lights choreographed to music. It's a great experience you can take in numerous times.

Cost Considerations

OK, the Waldorf is not the least expensive place. If luxury is your thing and your price point is high, then I do not think you will have any complaints with their rates (standard rate on our junior suite is from $433 a night). For those who are more budgeted with their travel, I will say that you may not want to dismiss this hotel and give some consideration to some real price justifications. One, it is centrally located so foot travel to many places is easy. A quick jaunt to New York, New York is easy, and the Shops at Crystals has exceptional shopping and dining and is right across the street. Two, as of early 2025, there is a CVS next door and while I adore the luxury of a five star hotel, I admittedly do like being able to quickly grab a cheap snack or something easy, and CVS was maybe a 2-3 minute walk from the hotel. It's nice. There is also a Whataburger next door, which did make for a handy 2 am milkshake run if that's your thing. Having quickly accessible fast food and quick grab shopping next door is great in my opinion. For me personally, it doesn't take much for me to justify the higher cost to have access to those things. I adore coffee, and having a Nespresso machine in the room is a luxury perk—saving me $10 per drink in lieu of my usual Starbucks run. Our room resets twice a day included new espresso pods, so I easily saved over $50 in coffee. Point is, there is a cost factor, but for some travelers, the perks can quickly add up.

My Thoughts

Not going to lie, this hotel sets the bar on my hotel stays higher. This hotel entices me back to Vegas, which says a lot because it is busy for my style. Work or play, the location and feel of this hotel make it my choice for staying on the Strip or in Vegas at all for that matter. The rooms were elegant, the entire facility was clean, the amenities were top, and the customer support (before, during, and after the stay) was awesome. If you are looking for a place to stay close to the action or a place where you can stay at the property most of the time, this is your Las Vegas accommodation starting point. It does not disappoint.
