Caesars Superdome – Eras Tour

The Eras Tour

The Eras Tour in New Orleans had more than 191,000 fans attend over a 3 day concert series, setting a record in the history of the 49 year old facility. We had our stay booked within walking distance of the Superdome. Our trip to the Dome was to attend Taylor Swift's Eras Tour. Props to the Superdome and New Orleans in general for 'theming' the town for the 3 days of concert-goers. From the Bonvoy welcoming 'friendship bracelet' gift at check in to the large bracelet decor on the exterior of the Superdome, the town was ready to provide a nice welcoming.

The Eras Tour - New Orleans Style

So our trip to the Superdome was to attend Taylor Swift's Eras Tour. Props to the Superdome and New Orleans in general for 'theming' the town for the 3 days of concert-goers. From the Bonvoy welcoming 'friendship bracelet' gift at check in to the large bracelet decor on the exterior of the Superdome, the town was ready provide a nice welcoming. Even Taylor herself brought home the Mardi Gras theme donning purple, yellow, and green on opening night.

The Dome is an impressive place for an event such the Eras. Stage tech included three connected stages (main, middle, and a T-shaped ramp), hydraulic lifts, projection mapping, pyrotechnics and LED effects. All designed to take fans through each album’s world.

Crowd Management

From the pre-show merch sales (before the event dates) to the actual entrance to the Dome, the lines just didn't seem to be that long. The security and in and out aisles were laid out to provide an efficient flow of people. For 70,000 plus people, it didn't seem to be that crowded. Once inside and at capacity though, you could see that there a lot of people. Great job to both the dome and the events management for making things go smoothly.

Taylor Swift

The show itself was phenomenal. The Eras Tour at the Caesars Superdome ran three sold-out nights. The intrinsic 'familyhood' of these fans gives an honest presence of community. From the Gracie Abrams opening act to the finale confetti drop, the show was an experience like no other. Honestly, one could enjoy a show of the show itself. The stage, lighting, effects, choreography was superb. The acoustics, albeit really loud, were ample yet clear. The dome height was quite accommodating for lasers and the occasional flames, to give a feeling of a much larger place. For Night 1 in New Orleans (Oct 25), her surprise song was a mashup: “Our Song” + “Call It What You Want” and also included a mashup of “Black Dog” + “Haunted” as part of the surprise set. The performance stretched past three hours, weaving 40+ songs, dazzling stagecraft, and costume changes into a career-spanning story. From pop anthems to stripped-down acoustics, the show wasn't just a concert—it was an immersive journey through Swift’s evolution as an artist, songwriter, entertainer , and performer and a once-in-a-lifetime experience for New Orleans.

Access, Concessions & Restrooms

Food and beverage stands are available on the concourse levels during events. The Dome has a “no bottle caps” policy and when buying bottled drinks, caps may be removed before they are handed to the consumer. I admit this one was a new for me. Upon looking it up, it's a safety thing so a closed bottle cannot be thrown or dropped and possibly injure someone. The Caesars Superdome has women's restrooms and men's restrooms conveniently located throughout the stadium. Facilities for persons with disabilities are provided at all restrooms. All restrooms include accessible stalls and facilities for persons with disabilities. There are 11 unisex restrooms located throughout the stadium (loge, suite, upper levels) in addition to standard men’s and women’s restrooms.   Wheelchair-accessible seating, semi-ambulatory seating, and removable-armrest seating are distributed across various levels and ADA facilitators are stationed at main entry gates to assist patrons, and elevators (22 total, though some are for back-of-house use) serve multiple public levels.

Overall

The overall experience, cleanliness, offerings and security of the facility and the event was above par. Even leaving, I did not feel a sense of being trampled nor did I feel concerned with police escorts and assistance working the crowd to keep things moving. For business/work travelers, staying nearby means you can catch a world-class show after a day of meetings or work.
